From notes-to-smBFF in late 2016, re worries about mental fades:
- real things do happen:
- groping for words
- forgetting appointments, names, ...
- finding it's harder to focus and to learn new things
- seeing the body fail (~1%/year)
- feeling embarrassment at one's errors
- but there's hope – via self-awareness and being more meta:
- accept changes, with a sigh if need be
- establish habits to keep from losing track of things and tasks
- carry an appointment book and/or notecards to capture thoughts
- practice deliberate focus and attention
- build new friendships
- let go of goals
- delegate
- laugh
- do less, better
