Aging Brain

From notes-to-smBFF in late 2016, re worries about mental fades:

  • real things do happen:
    • groping for words
    • forgetting appointments, names, ...
    • finding it's harder to focus and to learn new things
    • seeing the body fail (~1%/year)
    • feeling embarrassment at one's errors
  • but there's hope – via self-awareness and being more meta:
    • accept changes, with a sigh if need be
    • establish habits to keep from losing track of things and tasks
    • carry an appointment book and/or notecards to capture thoughts
    • practice deliberate focus and attention
    • build new friendships
    • let go of goals
    • delegate
    • laugh
    • do less, better
